And while we are always happy to share the expertise of AkzoNobel and Sikkens with bodyshops, we are also very keen to hear what the bodyshops have to tell us. So, as part of the all-important networking which inspires innovation, we asked a number of bodyshops, across Europe, to let us see the world through their eyes. Here is a brief outline of what our customers told us and rest assured that the full responses are being studied carefully and that all views expressed will influence our work. Forming closer ties to survive Les Ateliers de Clichy, France Based in a Parisian suburb, Les Ateliers de Clichy, has been a Sikkens customer for 20 years and only uses Sikkens products. Painting around 10 vehicles per week, with commercial vehicles making up about 3% of the workload, it has a stable customer base. Around 40% of business comes from work providers and the remainder from companies and fleets. Equipment on site includes a single spray booth, an Automatchic spectrophotometer and a Mixit Pro mixing system. General Manager Mohamed Oubelaid is happy to report that the business is working to full capacity, without any need for promotion, so it can concentrate on its main goal of customer satisfaction. Its strategy includes moving towards the premium end of the market by providing additional services such as vehicle collection and delivery, which customers increasingly expect. The support received from AkzoNobel is much appreciated. In particular, business has been boosted by contacts acquired through the Acoat Selected network, including a deal to handle 600 Danone vehicles. Mohamed Oubelaid says: “In future, close partnerships between paint manufacturers and bodyshops will become more and more important. The only businesses to survive Mohamed Oubelaid will be the big players who have been able to adapt to changes in the market and have had the sense to form closer ties with leading groups like AkzoNobel.” Make partnerships and social media ABS Beckers & Mulder, the Netherlands Handling 30-40 jobs per week ABS Beckers & Mulder is working exclusively with Sikkens products. Two thirds of the business is insurance work with the remainder from garages and private customers.
